Yaesu Fusion DR-1X

I had recently put up my YAESU Fusion DR-1X Repeater on-air.  This page has a few pictures and links to my YouTube Videos that try to articulate this project and the progress made thus far.

I will add more verbiage to this page some time soon.  But, I think the YouTube videos and these pictures below perhaps do well in explaining the project.

  • I am looking at getting a Yaesu DR-1X Repeater System Fusion Repeater. How does it perform? I already have Yaesu FTM400DR and FT1D Portable, wires-x.

Any real world experience and maybe list of items/ accessories would be great to help me. 73, de KK6GST

    • hi Arturo – thanks for reaching out
I have been running my DR-1X for my 442.175MHz since Jan of this year along w/ WiRES-X in the backend. It has been working great. There are several examples of people using the repeater w/ or w/o WiRES-X. if you’re looking at doing WiRES-X w/ DR-1X, you will be only able to do in Analog mode for now till YAESU releases a new firmware update (ETA was May or Aug).

For more detailed conversation, you should join me and several others in the YAESU Fusion User Group Forum over here

please also visit my YouTube Channel – links are found in my blog here.

      hope that helps

  • Hello very nice! I noticed you are using a mobile type duplexer. Can you tell me the brand and model? How well does it do? I am considering getting one also but want to make sure enough isolation and no interference issues. I am assuming you are running low profile repeater (from home)? I may be doing the same soon.

    • hi John – the mobile duplexer is a cheap Chinese item I bought off of ebay. The plan is to replace this w/ a 6 cavity Bp/Br duplexer. The mobile duplexer works ok for what I’m doing. However, if your QTH is surrounded by other hams, towers, antennas, etc, you will surely notice interference. If you have the room in your budget, I’d recommend going the Bp/Br route. if you’re looking for a testing stage, the mobile duplexer works just fine.

I run my Fusion DR-1X in medium power. I have a Rx-only Pre-amp sitting on the Rx end of the fusion, made by Advanced REceiver – found at here : http://advancedreceiver.com/page5.html. The mobile duplexer works well also w/ this pre-amp on. But, do see it crossing over the isolation boundaries every once in a while.

hope that helps and thanks for visiting the site

  • Can you give a pointer to the duplexer you’re using? What freqs are you on? I’ve heard other say “4 cans won’t cut it”

    • I removed the duplexer and installed a physical second Antenna that is vertically displaced at least at 6′ on my tower.
